After grad school, I moved to E TN and lived in a tiny cabin in the woods... it was so tiny that it had just one room, a microscopic kitchen and a teeny bathroom.... I used a fold up T.V. tray to set by the bed as a dining table, writing table and it was my studio as well.... I had to go out to do laundry... I used to hate it, but I grew to love it.... it provided me with a new studio... the laundry studio... I had already been drawing walking trailers and cabins... but the laundromat inspired me to introduce washing machines and dryers into the mix....

 ..so when I went to do laundry I made little pen drawings of walking and melting washers and dryers... and brought them home and set up my TV tray studio and painted boards to make backgrounds and environments for them... I loved the mix of drawing and painting....

..sometimes I didn't have laundry to do... so I let TV inspire me (I had free cable at the time) ... and this piece happened when I was watching Dirty Jobs... he was pulling weird things from the ocean.. the water was not too deep.. I don't know what they were... really weird tube things.. he pulled them out and they cooked them... I would not eat one.. they were hideous and alien looking.. so I made my version of them... mine is not as hideous though...
